Editorial Illustration • Chicago Reader cover

When the Chicago Reader reached out to me to create the cover story illustration for an article on the “reverse Great Migration”, I had just finished re-reading Toni Morrison’s Song of Solomon. I kept coming back to the visual of Black people physically taking flight, so this illustration ended up centering that fantastical image.
