She Votes • Interior Illustration

I was asked to provide an illustration for Bridget Quinn’s new book, She Votes, chronicling important figures in the long movement for women’s rights. The team at Chronicle Books gave me the scene of Sacagawea and York having their voices heard when Lewis and Clark’s band was deciding where to head for the winter. I tried to inject as much color and vitality into the composition as possible, and the illustration ended up being chosen to run on the back cover as well as the interior.
